How to Manifest Bhakti Enthusiasm?

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

I am also a follower of Lord Krsna. My problem is that I feel a kind of lack in my enthusiasm in worshipping the Lord. My question is: How can I raise my enthusiasm for giving myself to Him in full devotion ?

Answer:  It’s Simply a Matter of Realization
Enthusiasm is simply a matter of realization. If you had fallen off of a cliff and you had grabbed hold of a tree branch on the way down and you heard some people above you on the top of the cliff, how enthusiastic would you be to call out to them for help?

Our present predicament is like this. If you always remember this, you will naturally call out to the Lord with the greatest enthusiasm.

Bell is mightier than the bomb!

Bell is mightier
One time Prabhupada was saying that the ‘BELL’ of the priest in the temple, when he performs the arati ceremony ringing the bell, that bell is more powerful than the nuclear weapon…the atomic bomb, because the bomb will blow up people’s bodies and destroy vegetation and will make a hole in the ground and everything. But the bomb doesn’t change spiritually, the situation that’s happening with any of those souls, with any of those spiritual beings. Again they still have to take birth.

But someone hearing of the ‘BELL’ that’s being offered to Krsna, then what to speak of the Kirtan, that’s destroying so much karma and that can actually purify ones consciousness, as we’re said to have a transcendental consciousness which is capable of remembering Krsna!

Supreme Bargain

Thursday, August 12th, 2010

Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura is describing the Supreme Bargain. In the material world we give our love and faith to people, but they can hardly reciprocate a fraction of what is given. Sometimes our loved ones might even cause us harm. Here Bhaktivinoda Thakura explains that if we give our faith to Krishna, then not only will we be reimbursed the equavalent, but we will actually get back many times that amount. So why we hesitate?”

Power of the Word: Hari

Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu

The Lord (Caitanya Mahaprabhu) asked everyone to chant… Hari… Hari… Hari… Hari…

In the Skanda Purana, it mentions that if you chant the two syllables Ha… Ri… Ha… Ri… Ha… Ri… Hari… Hari… Hari… Hari…, then the Lord will steal away from you!… We all still look worried?… You know what he’ll steel from you??? You want to know?

If you chanted HARI… he’ll steel away from you all your SUFFERINGS! All your Contamination! That looks alright?

Someone comes and steels your garbage do you mind? (laughter…)

HARI will steel away all your contamination and sufferings.”

Reflections of the SPIRITUAL WORLD!

Spiritual world

The material world and its relationships are a reflection of God’s own Spiritual world and its spiritual relationships. He made man in His image and He made the material relationships as a type of reflection so that they can feel that if they want to become like God, it gives them opportunities to have apparently similar kinds of activities.

But in fact they are like the shadow, and Krishna’s activities are the original and pure. These are not real relationships. These are a play, a kind of toy dolls, which are given to people in the material world, so that they think, “Okay, I have my own world, I have my own Samsara, my own creation. This is my family, I have created my children, I have created my business”, and “my whatever” that they are able to create.

They can become a Brahma and create the whole universe; and ultimately see that everything is Krishna’s energy. When they surrender to Krishna – that is pure devotional service. Pure devotional service means to do that is pleasing to Krishna.”

Why call God “Krishna”

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

Questions and answers by HG Sankarshan das Adhikari

If God is God as you said, divine and beyond attributes and names, why such obsession with the name Krishna? We could be spontaneously liberated if we keep God just God without creating an Avatar or give a name to God.

Answer:  Because “Krishna” Best Describes Him
When we say that God is unlimited we are are not saying that He is beyond attributes and names. What we are instead saying is that God has unlimited attributes and names. If God is unlimited, He cannot be limited in any way. (more…)

Questions and answers by HG Sankarshan das Adhikari

I have one question, where I am little bit confused. One devotee was telling me that everything is predestined. Krsna knows everything. He knows what we will choose, what we will do, how and when we will come back to him. So according to this philosophy, we are only observers and nothing more.  (more…)

Transcendental Vaccination!

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

“To get vaccination from the sense gratification is to absorb in transcendental ecstasy. To do that we need to have a strong desire. In a few days, months, years, if you are determined and if somehow you could convince Lord Nityananda, “I don’t have any other desire but to get back to You. You should please give me that little drop of mercy.” (more…)

Divorce in Vedic Culture

Saturday, May 29th, 2010

Questions and Answers by HG Sankarshan das Adhikari

Of late men and women of this century are regularly applying for divorces in the court of law. Does our Vedic culture permit this?

Answer:  They Wouldn’t Even Dream of It
In Vedic culture there is no thing as divorce because in Vedic culture marriage is so pleasing and satisfying that there is no question of divorce. Vedic culture is based on the spiritual conception of existence in which one derives unlimited pleasure by doing everything for the pleasure of the Supreme Person. It is in this spirit that one conducts his married life. Thus there is no question of dissatisfaction. (more…)

Responsibility In KC!

Tuesday, May 25th, 2010

“When we come to Krsna Consciousness, we have to also become responsible for what we do. If we are a little careful, Krsna will certainly protect us and then if we are careful about making mistakes and ask for forgiveness and avoid repeating in the future, then it is very easy to overcome any mistakes and get back home, Back to Godhead, and get purely Krsna Conscious.
